Not a fact anymore
Saturn is the outermost planet in the planetary system.
What we know now
Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun. Uranus and Neptune orbit farther out, along with many trans-Neptunian dwarf planets and smaller bodies.
Why it changed
For naked-eye astronomy, the known planetary sequence really did end at Saturn. William Herschel's 1781 telescopic discovery of Uranus added the first new planet known since antiquity and roughly doubled the radius of the known planetary solar system.
